i take pictures because i can't draw. i like to force the camera to create the images that i want it to see... and if no manner of coaxing or cajoling will work, well, there's Photoshop.

The primary camera used for my photography was a Pentax K1000 (prior to November 2001... see here: flickr.com/photos/indigo_child/5416881/in/set-138929/), and after that, a Pentax KM or a Minolta X370. In spring of 2005, i got my first automatic, the Nikon F-601 AF, and that autumn, i got my first digital camera, a Konica Minolta Dimage Z5.

i was still mostly using film. However, when my KM needed repairs and my Nikon needed a battery, i began using my digital a lot more. In 2008, my husband bought a cheap Vivitar digital as snapshot camera that He or i could carry with us more conveniently than the Minolta and that would hopefully give us better pix than our phones do.

All of it only served to remind me how much better film is... until now. Part of me still believes there will always be a place for film and for prints. Digital can never completely replace film or the printed photograph... but digital technology certainly has made huge strides over the past 10 years. As it stands now, i have finally found the camera that could make a convert out of me... the Nikon D90.

It was the camera i had been waiting for — the one that i wish i could've had when i bought a point & shoot instead of a D-SLR because i wanted the option to shoot video. i am SO glad i waited to get a digital SLR, because until now, i don't think there was a camera out there that would've satisfied me.
