Ilze is a Latvian painter (BFA - Latvian Academy of Arts, Riga, Latvia) who not only works with oil and acrylic techniques, but also has experience in hand-made paper painting, print, stage decoration, and art education for kids. Ilze mainly (but not exclusively) uses different surface structures with textural mass and linen lacquer in order to reinforce the visual expression in her paintings. Additionally, she makes thinner or thicker color effects and applies not only brush, but roll as well. Lately, she has spent much time doing hand-made paper painting and print at the Southwest School of Art and Craft in San Antonio.

BIO
Ilze was born in 1970 in Riga, Latvia. She has attended Riga College of Applied Arts and later entered Latvian Academy of Art where she studied restoration and painting. She has been a participant of both domestic and international art events and has had many solo exhibitions. She has also had numerous public art commissions in Latvia and Denmark and was a recipient of several scholarships granted by The Nordic Council of Ministers. Her paintings are privately and publicly owned in Belgium, Latvia, Lithuania, Denmark, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Russia, the UK and the USA. In 2006, she became a member of SAVA (San Antonio Visual Artists) and her paintings have previously been accepted for the American Juried Art Salon shows.
