About me: Well I have spent my life in newspapers. I started out in classified advertising and had a radio commercial about me and my ad partner. It was hilarious and we got very tired of hearing it but I still have it on a cassette tape. LOL!!
I met my husband at a newspaper. He was an editor while I worked in classified ads. I didn't want to be in advertising. I wanted the newsroom. I finally got my chance at reporting and journalism in New Jersey when my husband was night editor of a newspaper there.
I wrote feature stories, articles for the Religion page and the weekend section. I also took my first paid photo.
From there I went on to be a correspondent for other papers and then became a reporter and then finally my dream as a managing editor of a newspaper in Culver, Indiana.
I am an award winning writer. I won first place in the Hoosier State Press Association for Best coverage deadline reporting on the murder of a 12 year old girl who was beaten to death by her father with a rifle stock.
First place in the Hoosier State Press Association for non deadline reporting for a story with my husband on the death of our son ..he died from SIDS.
First place in the Hoosier State Press Association for best column writing for my column "Lady You're History."
Second place for non deadline news coverage.
First place from the Indiana Federation of Press Women for feature writing on a story about Reindeer.
Third place from the Indiana Federation of Press Women for meeting coverage.
Honorable from Community Newspapers Holdings Incorporated for a story.
I put all this here not to brag or gloat but for my friends. You all know some of it but now perhaps it will give you an idea of what I've done. I love this work but can no longer work in it due to the amount of stress it causes.
I also wrote columns once in awhile online for Hal Lindsey's Oracle and found news stories for the site.
