I’m a doll maker and photographer living in London. I have been immersed in art ever since I can remember. Hugely interested in dolls and “painting with light”, I combined the two areas, which enabled me to create my distinguished styles in doll photography and doll making.

During my doll customisation work, every time I gave a new BJD an individual, life-infusing look, I dreamt of making my own artist poupée from scratch. I was extremely lucky to meet Lidia Snul, the very talented creator of BJtales, who taught me the craft of professional ball jointed doll making. With Lidia as my mentor and an amazing tutor, I studied porcelain doll making and all ‘pro’s’ and ‘con’s’ of this very special and incredibly durable, yet delicate, material. I have developed my style in doll sculpture, and understood tricks of the trade, which I have incorporated into my doll making.

My vast experience as a doll photographer, great attention to detail and hypersensitivity towards beautiful human and fairy-like form resulted in my creating porcelain ball jointed dolls like no others. They are tiny and delicate, look perfect when juxtaposed with filigree jewellery and doll house miniatures. These dolls are also extremely durable- they can last hundreds of years if handled with care. Such is porcelain, the tough and translucent ceramic medium which Lightpainted Dolls are made of- the material used and cherished by artists and craftsmen for centuries for its amazing qualities.
