A brief history of who I am and why am here
As you can probably tell I’m Neil Spiers, or am I Nigel or Niall hahaha.

I have been interested by photography for quite a few years but only picked up a camera as of April 2009. Thanks to my lovely wife who spent all her hard earnt overtime money on a Sony A200 DSLR as a wedding present. Since then I picked up a Minolta 150-300mm lens and a trusty tripod and straight away went about taking photos here there and everywhere.

After numerous stressed out moments of not getting the shots I was looking for, I picked up a few digital photography books, magazines and read alot online. With the knowledge of Aperture settings, Shutter speeds, ISO settings, White Balance and that wonderful subject of lighting now in my head, I ventured back out and started getting shots that I was feeling very happy with. With family and friends commenting on my photos, plus getting small recognition for a 2 week competition on DSLR User website, I was starting to brim with confidence.

One of my favourite subject matters is wildlife, as a kid I was obsessed with nature and believe to this day I still am. Being possibly the only subject that I know alot about, I began taking my camera EVERYWHERE with me just incase that one shot appeared and low and behold it did (see Buzzards in Blackpool). I know I will stick to wildlife photography as my main love but along with landscape photography, portrait photography, night photography and lots more, I hope to build a portfolio of shots that will one day get me recognised. Or you never know one day this could become a full time job for me, time can only tell.
