Icelandair Hotels Group is the largest hotel company in Iceland. The company runs two separate hotel chain as well as Hilton Reykjavik Nordica, catering for all kinds of guests, operating on all kinds of budgets – and available for both business and pleasure.

Icelandair Hotels Group entered into a franchise agreement with the Hilton Hotel Chain in October 2007 and is running Hilton Reykjavik Nordica, formerly known as Icelandair Nordica Hotel, under the Hilton Hotel Brand name.

Icelandair Hotels is a chain of eight first class, three/four-star hotels and the other hotel chain is the Edda Hotels, a chain of 12 summer hotels, all with 2 or 3 star facilities.

The largest hotels in the Icelandair Hotels Group are located in Reykjavik, Hilton Reykjavik Nordica, a four-star hotel with 252 rooms, Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Marina four star hotel with 101 rooms and Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Natura (known before as Hotel Loftleidir), a four star hotel with 220 rooms. The other seven Icelandair Hotels are in towns and on the countryside throughout Iceland. They have between 22 and 63 rooms and are rated as 3 or 4 star hotels. They are considered to be the best hotels available outside Reykjavík and all hotels are convenient for meetings and conferences.

All the hotels are operated by Icelandair Hotels Group apart from five hotels outside Reykjavik. They are run according to a franchise agreement which allows them to use our trademark - Icelandair Hotels. Icelandair Hotels are: Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Natura (Loftleidir), Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Marina, Icelandair Hotel in Keflavik (known before as Flughotel), Icelandair Hotel Fludir, Icelandair Hotel Klaustur, Icelandair Hotel Herad, Icelandair Hotel Hamar and Icelandair Hotel Akureyri.

The 12 hotels in the Edda Hotels chain are located around the country and are open only during the summer. Most are run in student quarters and lodging areas of schools and each have between 21 and 204 rooms, with varying amenities. The star rating is from two (Hotel Edda) to three (Hotel Edda PLUS) and the chain is highly regarded in Iceland.
History and Ownership

Icelandair Hotels Group was established in 1998 and is owned solely by Icelandair Group.

Icelandair Group is a holding company, with 12 independent subsidiaries, focused on the airline and tourism sectors. The largest subsidiary is the international airline Icelandair, which accounts for approximately 50% of the Group's turnover. This is followed by Loftleidir Icelandic and Bluebird Cargo. Other companies within the group are Icelandair Cargo, Icelandair Ground Services, Icelandair Technical Services, Air Iceland, Icelandair Hotels, Iceland Travel and Icelandair Shared Services (Fjarvakur). The Group employs about 2,500 people and was listed on the Icelandic Stock Exchange in 2006. Björgolfur Johannsson is CEO of both Icelandair Group and Icelandair and he manages the Group and its subsidiaries with support from experienced executives.
