I have to get this out of the way first - I would be grateful if you could avoid criticising my photo for issues relating to being "too dark" or "too light" if you do not have your monitor properly calibrated using an on-screen hardware calibration device. The software based ones included in graphics packages do not calibrate screens properly and photos will not appear true.

Now that's over with, I'm Ian Price, a photographer from North Wales, close to the Cheshire border.

In 2005 I graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University, West Yorkshire, with a First Class Honours degree in Computer Science. Since then I have been employed as a Software Engineer, but at the same time have found time to further my interest in photography.

Photography aside, I have many other interests. Some of the most prominent ones being Motorsport, football, ice hockey, baseball, music, socialising and the usual.

I like taking photos - simple as that.

Having an intensely scientific background, my creativity side is somewhat limited - nevertheless photography seems to be the sole "arty" side of me which works.

Technically I can always improve, as can anyone in any walk of life, but saying that I am confident in what I can do with a camera and always strive to develop further.

I use Lightroom as my "digital darkroom", and I try to post process as little as possible. I convert to B&W using Lightroom, and when I leave in colour I sometimes tweak a few levels - but I try to keep to what was possible in the darkoom.
