Born 1965, wife and 2 kids who all think I'm mad taking odd photos!

I left school and decided I wanted to be a photographer so I studied 'O' and 'A' level photography at Watford College and then went on to study ONC and HNC Scientific & Technical Photography at Paddington College. Became a Medical Photographer from '84 - '89 and then changed career and became a Building Surveyor.

I always thought turning my hobby of photography into my career would be a great idea. Turned out to be the opposite as I really didn't want to pick up a camera in my spare time after having spent a whole day doing just that!

I didn't pick up a camera again (from '89 - 05!), apart for the usual snapshots, until my wife bought me my Pentax Optio 750z for my 40th. Now I've got the bug again and can't leave it alone!

It has to be said that digital photography is so much easier than mucking about in the darkroom with different chemicals, enlargers, papers and the like! I wouldn't want to swap back, although black and white film is generally much "warmer" than the clinical images that digital produces. Still, no stinky chemicals that rot your skin so that's enough for me!

I've got some great Flickr friends and hope to keep adding to them.

Christmas '09 my wife bought me a K20D dslr. My little 750z took me about 3 years to get the best from it, so who knows how long it'll take to master this one. It'll be fun though!
