I was born in a small town in Southwestern Wisconsin. I spent my formative years getting myself into more trouble and mischief than anyone I know. I continued this pattern of behavior until my late teens but never reaching a true turning point until my early 20’s. It was then that I realized that the world had so much opportunity to offer.
After a summer trip out west with a group of my friends I found my passion; travel. I found that the feeling of the open road was what put the fire in my heart. I began making “Suicide Missions;” long journeys in short amounts of time, with very little money in my pocket. There were so many places to go, so I went. I packed up my car and would drive to wherever it was that I wanted to go.
I stopped making excuses for myself and I began to live my dream. I would soon find myself in Argentina, traveling from Buenos Aires to the border of Brazil and onward to the Andes Mountains, only miles from Anconcagua, the highest mountain in the western hemisphere. After returning home, I continued my travels and went East to Philadelphia and New York City.
Six months later I would find myself on the beautiful beaches of Aruba, enjoying perfect weather, beautiful torquise waters and most importantly, not having a care in the world.
I have been able to do all of this because I have goals, dreams, ambitions. I quit making excuses, I aligned my life with my values and I push hard to acheive my dreams. I take leaps of faith and risks. I’m willing to live outside of my comfort zone.
Why 100 Goals?
“Without goals, you are living reactively, letting life push you around. With goals, you can live a proactive life, steering toward a destination. You know where your path is supposed to lead.”
I think that when a person tries to figure out 100 goals they wish to accomplish, they really have to dig deep into their heart and soul and it is an exercise in learning who you really are and what is important to you. What do you value? For myself I’ve found that there are a lot of things in life that I’ve simply never done or tried. I’ve found that I have a desire to help people and the world we live in. I’ve found that learning new things is important to me. Most of all, I’ve found that there is a lot of living yet to do.
When you compile a list of 100 goals there are goals that are easy to accomplish and those that may take a lifetime to achieve. There may even be some goals in there that are next to impossible, but remember, nothing is impossible. I promise you that someone has done exactly what you desire to do. If they can do it, why can’t you?
I created this website because all of my life I have had a desire to write. I never knew what to write about though. I wrote screenplays that continue to sit in a drawer, historical fiction that will never be read by an audience, a life biography that wouldn’t be complete until I die. It wasn’t until I read a blog about goals. The quote above is what really got my attention and I was motivated to write my goals down on paper. One of those goals was to build a website. With my newfound passion of goals and my longtime passion for writing, the idea of creating a website about what I was doing to accomplish my own goals clicked.
