AP: Grumpy Gen X individualist dragged kicking and screaming into online photo community.

OK, I'm back....

---

Haven't posted anything on here in ages. Sigh...just having trouble motivating myself to put things on Flickr these days. I find myself asking whether this a place that uses social networking mechanics as a tool to bring people's great photography to light across the world, or are the photos just a bunch of props, a tool that makes it easier to bring people into a virulent social network? I've seen amazing things on Flickr, photos I would never have otherwise been exposed to. Yet I've also seen how it seems to become less and less about the photography the more involved people's lives become with this place.

I'm feeling discouraged about this. If anyone wants to tell me I shouldn't be, please do. I'm listening.

---

I've moved my bokeh rant over to a new group I've started, Anti Bokeh Wednesdays, which as the description says is not anti-bokeh, or anti-Wednesdays, or anti-anything, really.

The anti is more like antimatter to matter - if there is a popular Bokeh Wednesday group, shouldn't there also be a popular (please visit and join!) group that features it's opposite?

(For the record, I'm part of the Bokeh Wednesday group too, so I am not anti-bokeh!)

So, that out of the way, what am I up to these days? Well, I am trying to force myself to scan a roll of old film from WAYYYYY back when I was a more serious photographer (not that any of it is any good) and to post 1 image a day from that time. You can find them in my Pre-Digital collection.
