I'm married and have one kid with another on the way. I've written a couple of books on railroads; CGW depots with Joe Piersen and the DM&E with Andy Cummings. Besides trains, I enjoy baseball, cars, fitness, music, and photography.
I started shooting trains when I was in college. I couldn't afford a camera, so I borrowed them from friends. I started with prints, but switched to slides per the advice of Paul Swanson. I got a digital SLR in 2004 and haven't shot a 35mm frame since. In fact, I still haven't developed the roll of film that was in the camera when I switched. Comparing 35mm to digital is like comparing steam to diesel locomotives.
I have a lot of fun shooting. It's challenging to try and see the same subject differently through experience. I hope you enjoy seeing my photos here and feel free to comment on anything.
