G'Day mate,

We are from Australia My husbands name is Gary and I am Jane. We went to Central America for our honeymoon and found this beautiful place in Guatemala, Rio Dulce to be exact, When we found it, the house was used as a holiday home, but the docks were good and the structure of the house is concrete, so there were great possibilities for the property.

Gary, being a builder saw the potential, not the problems. He said, "No problem mate, with a lot of hard work and improvements to the overall property and using the proper materials, we could have a hotel in paradise.

Sounded pretty good!

So we sold our boat and moved to Guatemala and bought the place. What better way to start out our new life together, right?

Well after one and a half years of backbreaking labor in a third world country where nothing happens today, everything is manana, and manana does not mean tomorrow it just means not today, here are the results.

Kangaroo Hotel y Restaurante

We opened on the 7th December 2008 and believe it or not we've have been fortunate enough to meet very amazing people and have great discussions and laughter with all our guests.

At the moment we only have two private rooms, one double bed and one queen, which we are changing at the moment, we also have a dorm, for 6 people until we finish another bungalow out on the back deck. Which I must say is pretty cool.

We are just getting our website going.

Gary completed the roof on the first bungalow just the other day. Things are moving right along, thankfully as we need the rooms.
