Christine Fogg Horton-American Abstract Expressionist by Antoinette Dietkus- The American pioneer did not wait for paved roads before risking everything to journey into uncharted wilderness of purest abstract expression. This tempered, philosophical artist
refuses to prop up or pigeonhole her art. She uses no safe, accepted, recognizable forms and does not create 'in the style of'...She is eye-witness to her own visions and does not second guess her instincts. Performing without a net in signature style she pushes back the boundaries of the pictorial. Her works become not oil paint or acrylic or acrylic scultural bas relief on canvas, but portals to deep space.
A picture is worth 1,000 words, they say. To describe the magnificient work of Christine Fogg Horton requires words of diversity and use of the superlative. 'Realms within realms', 'Beautiful work that looks like such fun.' 'Electric and subtle.' 'Monolithic.' 'Otherwordly.'
'Alchemist color.' 'A fall through a rabbit hole into wonderland.' 'Emanation of joy.' All true.
Since her mature art is so purely abstract, each piece stands whole, completely realized, alone. Each piece speaks for itself to each viewer. One person rhapsodizes that these pieces shimmer and burst forth from the canvas.
