Larsthrows says:
"Hoot is the epitomy of what it takes to be a great photographer.... enthusiasm, hard work and talent. He has all three in spades and it shows in his body of work. He is always looking for ways to improve his photography and is a fast learner in that regard. His enthusiasm for seeing what is worthy of photographing is second to none and is an example that these three factors are what make a good photographer and not the equipment. Sit down... take a spell and peruse his photography and you will see what I am referring to."

Dan Stuller says:
"I've known Hoot for 50 years - ever since our mom birth'd him!
Yes, he's my little brother!
Hoot's photo skills mainly come from me. Watching me for years he got a clear idea of what not to do! That's why his pictures turn out so well."6th August, 2006

Geyser Gary says:
"I cannot believe that I have not already written a testimonial for Hoot1. First things first. Hoot is, in real life, a good friend. When fortune smiles on us we meet once a year in Yellowstone. We hike together, shoot together, eat together and tease his brother together. As the saying goes, a good time is had by all. (Even when I show up five minutes after the wolves have left. Rats!) I love Steve's eye for composition and his willingness to work for the photo he wants to make. When it all comes together and the photo matches the image that he has in his imagination the results are just magic. Steve is generous with his knowledge of photography and always seems to have time to answer a question or two. So give a Hoot and view what Hoot shoots."

Buck Forester says:
"Hoot shoots equally well with sweet Velvia film or his digital Nikon D70. He also shoots equally well whether it's a magic lighting landscape or a swooping eagle. His images are wonderful. Other attributes I've seen of Hoot over the years is his sense of humor, his kindness, and his passion for what he loves to do, which is manifested through both conversing with him on various issues as well as his photography. I always look forward to Hoot's uploads which is why he was one of the first guys' I listed as a contact."

Steve Pearce says:
"Hoot and I share the same first name in real life, so he just HAS to be a cool guy. I've "known" Hoot as an online friend for a few years now via the Total Yellowstone Loon chat page and I've decided that ol' Hoot knows what to do when you put a camera in his hands. I'm especially impressed with his fall photos from Colorado but his entire body of work is very worthy of your perusal.
Over and out©,
Bubba Mediocrates"24th February, 2006
