THE JOURNEY IS THE REWARD -- Chinese Proverb

From a very young age--six years--I fell in love with the idea of "road trips." We spent every summer traveling all over the Western United States and up into Canada--camping out of the family car the whole time.

Photography became a big part of this love for travel once I hit high school, college, and beyond. I've been lucky enough to travel to and photograph some very remote and beautiful corners of the world. Since leaving California at age 18, I've lived in half a dozen beautiful locations around the U.S., as well as Brazil and Hungary. As a student of International Relations and Development, travel always could be justified as part of the school curriculum.

Now I'm a writer, so I can bum around in the name of "research." So many trips, so little time. But no matter what region I visit, the Western US will always be my home. After ten years in Arizona, I recently relocated to the High Sierra. I'll always remember the red rocks fondly, and now look forward to getting to know Nevada and the many natural wonders within a few hours of my new home.

About my gear: All photos as of 12/2007 taken with my new Olympus E-Volt 510 DSLR. I'm being dragged kicking and screaming into the digital revolution. Maybe someday I'll go back to film, but economics and the realities of not being able to find a decent photo lab have made that seem a distant prospect at the moment.
