  "Wanneer onze wegen voor het eerst kruisten, weet ik niet meer. Wel weet ik dat Hettie een van de eerste contacten van mij was. Hettie is dat tot op heden gebleven en niet alleen om haar fotografische kwaliteiten, die heeft ze zeker! Maar vooral omdat haar foto's het leven in al haar verscheidenheid weergeeft: met pieken en dalen, met een lach en een traan. Haar positieve levenshouding weerspiegelt in al haar kiekjes en doet je meeslepen in haar leven.
