Hermann DEZA aka HERMOSDEF!I was born in Paris in 1975, the 3rd child of migrants from Ivory Coast, West Africa. The 2 great passions of my life are music and photography. Because I didn't want to choose one over the other I decided to intimately entwine and combine these 2 worlds in my work. While Hip Hop and Soul have always been with me ever since I can remember, I became interested in photography while doing a media course during my 5 years of higher education in London (1997). I made the switch to digital in 2002 and have been addicted ever since. I've been told that my pictures have a "whole lot of Soul". I call my art AFROPICS.

"Portraitiste avant tout, Hermann nous livre toujours des images extèmement soignèes. si son attention ne laisse passer aucune faiblesse sur le plan technique, elle n'en reste pas moins tout aussi rigoureuse quant au regard porté sur l'humain.
Si j'avais à définir son travail, je le présenterais comme s'inscrivant plastiquement dans les critéres de la photographie de musique soul, rythm and blues, et bien entendu Hip Hop mais avec la particularité de mettre systhématiquement en avant la personalité de son modèle dans ce qu'il a de plus tendre, de plus fragile.
Les visages sont sculptés à grands coups de lumière et nous rapellent qu'ils ne sont que la partie visible de toute une histoire.
