I've had some kind of a camera in my hands since 1990, but only in the last few years have started to take photography more seriously. Except for a single course in college I'm self-taught, and have spent enough time developing film and printing in darkrooms to have a reasonable feel for the medium beyond digital. I limit my digital post-processing to techniques and effects that could be achieved in a darkroom just to give myself some limitations to push against.

I often use a camera during my daytime architecture job, but my preferred subjects are landscapes above all else. I enjoy looking at all kinds of work by other photographers (on flickr or otherwise). My wife also uses many of my photographs as reference for her paintings: www.heidimatic.com.
