A photographer who believes the true colours of photo is black & white...

I have a special interrest in portraits of people in their true enviroment, not studioportraits, and in the social life of people both in rural and urban communitys around the world.

And I´m from Sweden so my English might sometimes be of the worst sort....

    Karenia says:

"I am most drawn to Hedstrom's b&w work; scenes from every day, the cafe, of people, moments, life... there is an honest, intimate quality to these images that allow the viewer to feel almost as if he or she were sharing that very moment. There is a visual dialog that takes place.
    Thank you."

"Hedstrom is a real master in the art of black and white. His portraits of people in their true environment are outstanding. He’s not just an observer, but you can really feel his presence in every image."

    Heli Lehtonen says:

"Hans' archive of documentary photos is a real culture treasure. With his black & white portraits he shares insight about the unveiled real world; always with interesting angles, contrast and light. The photos feel so candid and natural that I almost believe that he has a way of turning invisible -- or he might just have the gift of making people feel really comfortable."

"Hedstrom's work is an excellent example of the power and beauty that documentary photography provides. If you look at his photos closely, you realize that through documenting the human experience Hedstrom's work gives us a glimpse into the lives of people who do not utilize modern technology but rely, instead, on the skill and knowledge of their trade ... a worldview that, for many, is vanishing.

I am a great admirer of Hedstrom's work and always look forward to viewing his newest uploads. I firmly believe that what he is doing reflects not only his eye for detail and his skills with the camera, but also the importance of the way of living-- and those who live it-- that he is preserving through his photography."
