My artistic vision/career began as a writer first writing screenplays and thinking in terms of moving film. This eventually led to a college career in film at the University of Pittsburgh and a truly inspirational experience at Pittsburgh Filmmakers not only in moving pictures of the 8mm and 16mm version, but also in still film particularly of the medium format variety always in black and white. Occasionally I’d opt for a blue tone or sepia tone print. Experimental darkroom was always a favorite.

Imagery is most certainly the driving force in my artistic process. I see life as a constant frame seen through a looking glass whether through a photographic lens or softened by a plate of glass. My art is a combination of dreamy reality through human landscapes or personified nature. Aesthetically strange beauty, awkward yet striking is the balance embodied in my work.

I cross medium boundaries tossing them together sometimes even haphazardly to create stimulus that provokes the viewer’s emotional and intellectual knowledge of art process and meaning. I want the viewer and thus the student to question not only the medium but the meaning of the usage of the medium in each piece.

My work is ever evolving because life is ever changing. The work never stays the same. The story changes.
