I believe that the best photographs are unexpected, a surprise. They contain a conflict, a dichotomy, this is how they have drama, this is how they tell a story. They are about finding something beautiful in an ugly situation or drawing attention to what most people would ignore. Something that only the photographer could have captured at that moment in that place. A unique insight into the fleeting irony of our crazy world.
I'm not technical as such, I like to use whatever is at hand to capture things there and then. Sometimes this means being inconspicuous. Sometimes I take video footage and choose my favourite frame from there, that method brings even more surprises. I now use a Nikon D60. Correction, I did use a Nikon D60 until the burglar who stole it tried to kill me with a large knife. I now look different. I am different, Perhaps new photos will come.
