  "Richard has an enviable gift for photography, and from what I know, an overly humble opinion of his own talents. Few people manage to photograph the world with such honesty, such an open vision, so bleakly and almost so blandly. At first glance so many of Richard's photos aren't of anything, but that's their beauty. Steering away from using obvious compositional tools, and well trodden, and frankly, often boring stereotypical approaches to photography, his photos make you look for what he saw instead of the obvious.
  
  That in itself is an enviable thing, the ability to make people actually look at your images instead of casting throw away glances. But the fact that what Richard actually sees are wonderfully delicate and intimate little snippets of the world, and the fact that he can, and does make you look for the delicacies he sees, is truly a wonderful thing. Seeing the world through Richard's eyes, I would guess, would be a delightful thing. I guess these photos are the nearest we'll get to that privilege."
