I'm Scottish and moved to France 18 years ago. My boyfriend is French and has lived in our village all his life.

We run an Angora goat and sheep farm and keep pigs, chickens and other livestock. We're living in a the first part of our self build house and still building an extension which is taking ages. We're off grid and try to be as self-sufficient as is prudent.

We have an open farm - visitors are welcome and if we've time we'll show you round. We run courses and workshops on smallholding, self-sufficiency, foraging, off-grid living etc. (Everything that we do really !) two or three times a year to supplement our farming income and meet new people.

I'm passionate about living simply, using renewable resources, gardening, animal welfare, building and making things. So is Fabrice - who is a gamekeeper and registered trapper and a responsible hunter. He speaks great English, but computers don't do anything for him at all.

Smallholding is quite a lonely life, and the magic of the internet means that I can share what we're doing and find out what you're up to too, without having to leave home - which I can't do often.

If you've had time to look through some of my photographs, you know a lot about me already !
