""By the powers vested in me by no one in particular HaggisVitae and her transgenic clone, Julie, are hereby granted a full and unconditional Artistic & Alcohol Serving License.
Maketh Ye Merry !!"
Seriously.
Haggis is one of the first meta-artists that I ran across in Flickr, and after I apologised and brushed the footprints off her, I realised that she, and her SVF Gallery mates, were doing work that transcended the purely photographic and indeed, the merely physical boundaries of space/time itself.
Here was a virtual pub whose artistically horizontal patrons partied in the cyberspace equivalent of Arthur C. Clarke's "The White Hart" tavern, Spider Robinson's "Callahan's Crosstime Saloon", "Quark's Place", the Mos Eisley Spaceport Cantina, Casablanca's "Blue Parrot", "The Admiral Benbow", Buffy's "The Bronze", "The Winchester", the Enterprise-D's "Ten Forward", Crabman's "Crab Shack", Terry Pratchett's "The Bucket", The Restaurant At The End Of the Universe, Cheers, the U.N.I.T NAFFI, Babylon Five's "DarkStar" Bar, "The Prancing Pony" Inn, Monty Python's Cheese Shop & Philosopher's Grog Shop, and the Star Trek universe's infamous "Captain's Table".
The internal layout was by Escher, Picasso dressed the bar staff, Dali
supervised the fit-out and Man-Ray was responsible for the advertising. And we, the pickled, all get to decorate the walls....
Looking around I understood that I was...home!
And it was Haggis who was responsible for leading me there.
I think she tends bar there in her spare time.
Not that she'd have much of that, given her prodigious output that would make a cornucopia cry, "Hold! Enuff!"
Her pieces are play as art, whimsy interwoven with storytelling that bubbles from her endlessly creative retorts.
Eels, diatoms and wings, oh my!
Bottles, squiggles and tatts, oh me!
Godsmith and Goblins and Bugs, what a spree!
So, I'd like to join with the other patrons of SVF in hoisting an ale to HaggisVitae, bending the elbow in salute to her marvelous magery.
Huzzah! Qapla! And, what's that Bogey? Ahh, right, of course. "Here's looking at you kid!""24th January, 2007

Paul Grand says:
"There are people who can read the future from the tealeaves in an empty cup.
Julie, aka 'Haggis' (don't ask)! Also has this talent to read the future from cells, she will put them under a microscope and confirm or otherwise that you've got some abnormality, she can even see from which part of the body they are from! Its this life affirming talent that Julie also brings to the Flickr community that makes her so special to everyone who's lives she touches.
Her artistic painting skills are amazing, she is also a talented writer, photographer and graphic artist, she has her own personal style in every medium she choses, I know Julie is going on to do great things, very soon!
Everybody who is lucky enough to know her has had their lives
enriched. Julie is one of life's givers!
For this and for myriad other reasons I'm so pleased to have Julie as an Admin member of the Man Ray group. However, her crowning glory has to be founding and starting the best group in Flickr-

"Hail Haggis Vitae!
The creator of wonderous sepia colored montage surrealities. The secular see and pontifless cannonizer who beatified Saint Eugene, our guardian of stem cells and salutory mitosis. Haggis Vitae, who blesses us with her fun, creativity, originality, humor, intelligence, urbanity, culture and, of course, uniquely subversive perspective.
Hail Haggis Vitae!"19th September, 2006

"Apart from having the greatest name on Flickr HaggisVitae (ah - still makes me smile) the body of work presented is that of a fervently creative mind and soul.
Haggis was never better than this.

"HaggisVitae is one of those wonderful people I met thanks to either dollseye or *estrella. I say this because 1) I want to thank either of them beause HV is simply brilliant and 2) they are to blame for me awakening HV's interest in insects with "wings down" =). My head is going to explode because of all this awesome art. I must claim HV, too, as family. HA!
When I first saw her pictures I thought, "A female Terry Gilliam" which by no means was to place emphasis on gender but rather on quality. I knew of Terry but not of HV... now I know better and Gilliam should watch his back. =)"28th June, 2006

"I simply refuse to believe that I am the first person to write a testimonial for Haggis. Her work is the most intriguing and inspired work I’ve come across on flickr. Her creations are a dreamscape, nightmare, fairytale -- and all the while brimming with just the right amount of whimsy. And her titles and descriptions prove that she’s as good a writer as she is an artist.
Each time I see a new work from Haggis, I “fave” it, and then go take a closer look. I know I’m going to love it. I’m confident you will too. I even looked in my dictionary, under “imagination” and there was her icon.
She’s also a very warm and caring person. In fact, she’s so good I nearly dropped a house on her recently. Do enter her beautiful and fanciful realm: you’ll never get out, of course, but it's a wondrous place to be lost in!"25th March, 2006
