About Habitat for Humanity of Anderson County, TN

We are an organization founded on Christian principles, welcoming people from all walks of life to share in our mission. Our long-term goal is to eliminate poverty through our homeownership program. We’ve built more than 45 houses already, but we’re building more than houses – we’re changing lives, and providing a path to a brighter future filled with hope and prosperity.

In no way does Habitat give away houses. In addition to a $1,200 down payment, partner families are required to contribute at least 400 hours of “sweat equity” labor by helping build their own homes and working on other Habitat projects. After construction is completed, they buy the houses with zero-interest mortgages spread out over 20 – 30 years in order for the payments, including taxes and insurance, to remain affordable. Their monthly payments are then used to build additional Habitat houses in Anderson County.
