Stephen Comiskey Photography 1987's photostream

My name is Stephen Comiskey, currently I am in my fourth and final year studying photography in DIT Temple Bar.

In recent years I have opted to take my photography into a different area than most of the students studying in DIT with myself.

From a young age I had always been interested in biological sciences and imaging the interior of the human body. An inspiration to me is the work of Lennart Nilsson. I also love wildlife and nature and always wanted to work outside and document wild animals, particularly within the medium of close up macro work. I practice my skills outside an apply them with the lab space of the hospital.

Last year I began my career as a clinical photographer, specializing in Ophthalmic photography . Currently I am training to become a primary grader in a Diabetic Screening clinic, this is where we image a Diabetic patients eyes to ensure they do not have any stages of Diabetic Retinopathy.

At the moment I work in the Royal Victoria Eye & Ear hospital Dublin and in the Excimer Laser Department in Blackrock clinic. Once finished my degree in June my aim is to become a full time medical photographer. Unusual perhaps but its interesting job to and I love it...
