Late 30's, male, hetero, Knoxville, TN area, not here to hookup with anyone, or trade d*** pictures with anyone. In early 2008, I had a pro account on fl*ckr with over 10,000 photos, mostly of sporting events. Got deleted, no explanation. Got my $25 back, but not all the time I wasted.

From now on, fl*ckr will never get another dollar from me and only a small handful of photos to prove to other members that I'm not a freeloader. I intentionally limit my activivty on Flickr because it just isn't all that much fun anymore. I am mainly here to look and download, not to share much (other sites are better for that). Evidence I have personally collected suggests that accounts on flickr with adult content have an average life expectancy <= 18.6 months, meaning that only 1/2 of them remain after 18.6 months. That's pretty close to the length of time my first account lasted.

This problem with flickr can also be verified by the view from the outside. By that, I mean links posted to flickr pictures, accounts, etc. within blogs and bulletin boards. When you look at the old links, you will notice a lot of deleted accounts associated with them.

Best strategy: go with the free acccount and start out every day expecting to be deleted. If it happens, you've lost no money and very little investment of time. If not, try your best to stay out of trouble and think of each day you don't get deleted as a very small bonus.

In my view, flickr is a site worthy of seeing, but not worthy of any significant investment of one's own time, effort, or money if any of one's content is adult, risque, or controversial in nature. The bottom line about flickr is that they are simply not very respectful to their paying customers. They delete accounts over issues that are mostly academic and hypothetical in nature, like people who momentarily change their photo safety settings to post them to an abandoned group that was made to attract adult content, but then quickly revert the setting to "restricted". In these groups, the admin was also deleted and the group inherited by an inactive member. Meanwhile, a now totally useless group is created which does nothing more than clutter up space within flickr's search engines. If they put their minds to it, and made real technological innovations and smart policy changes, they could cut the deletion rate to a fraction of what it now is. But, they will not do that. They seem far more bent on making deletions based upon real or imagined intentions they don't like than upon being pragmatic and focusing on the results.

Attention ladies

Do you live in my area and want to do some modeling? If so, then send me a flickrmail. What I shoot won't be going up here! As I said, I am already married and not looking for some kind of hookup or to buy or sell anything, but just to shoot some photos of a beautiful woman. Whatever I shoot, I share equally with you. The only requirement is you be over 18, female, and like to show off in sexy clothes.

Cornholio это не реальный человек, но вымышленный характер.

My blocking policy -- people that I block:

(1) Those who harrass me with comments or emails.

(2) Those who block me or ban me from a group. Please remember that if I get banned from a group with multiple admins, I will block some of them, maybe all, depending upon what I know about them.

(3) Those who question, challenge, or oppose freedom of speech, expression, or photographers' rights to shoot and/or publish anything, anyone, anytime we damn well feel like shooting in public space. Those who threaten or advocate violence against photographers or threaten our right to shoot anything or anyone we please in public space.

(4) I also block those accounts I find which promote violent, dangerous, self-destructive, or repulsive bahavior. I don't mean your basic S&M, transvestites, gays, etc. here, I am talking about things that inflict permanent damage or are downright evil. That would include fetish accounts dedicated to pedophilia, mutilation, rape, incest, amputation, scat, etc.

To those I am now blocking:

If I'm blocking you and you wish to discuss the reasons why or end it, please go to my group and post a message. If it's a case of mistaken identity, I will be glad to remove you from the list. In some instances, I also block people without their knowledge so I can remember not to ever invite them or their photos to my groups. If you're one of those that promotes destructive behavior, then it's not going to happen. Here is the group to end blocking:

The good and the bad out there now

In the old days of the web, the proliferation of junk photos and video was understandable because the technology was limited. That was well over 10 years ago. The problem is we are still seeing a proliferation of too many images which are simply a waste of space, not because of technological limitations, but because of lazy people. And now, there is no excuse for it. This is true of all types of photography, be it erotica, or anything else. On that note: I have no interest in seeing grainy, out-of-focus, close-up photos of your wife's panties taken in a hotel room under fluourescent light. If you're going to do something, please take the time to do it right, or forget about it all together. I'm certainly not going to block anyone for this, as long as you don't post this crap to my groups, but please know that it does not impress me.

Photos without "all sizes" enabled.

As a general rule, I consider accounts with the "spaceball" setting (no viewing of large size or saving) to be a waste of time, but I don't ever block anyone for this. I never add these as "favorite" and almost never bother making a comment on them. I wish there was a way to remove these photos from my view. And accounts with that setting, I really don't want as a contact either. To me, this defeats the whole purpose. I mean, if I were selling photos or only wanted certain people to see them, I would not put them on flickr! On the other hand, if they're here then you are basically giving them away anyway. The "spaceball" setting will not stop people from downloading smaller sizes anyway -- in order to see the photo, they must first download it.

Для тех, кто "блок" меня.

Вы никогда не должны блокировать меня.
Я никогда не грубить.
Я никогда не делать замечания сексуального.
Я никогда не делать незаконными замечания .
Я никогда не сделали ничего плохого никому.

One last thing: the Flickr "How not to get deleted" Group (see warning before joining!):

www.flickr.com/groups/unsafe

This group contains expert discussions dealing with things that are and are not permitted within Flickr's intentionally vague Terms of Service.

WARNING: DO NOT JOIN THIS GROUP IF YOU'RE NOT SURE WHETHER OR NOT YOUR ACCOUNT VIOLATES FLICKR RULES! If you join with even one photo in violation of rules, you run the risk of it being flagged or deleted as a result of "lurkers" and/or staff members there looking for violations. If you're in need of help in this respect and you want to see this group, you should create an empty account for the purposes of entering the group and participating in discussions there. There is useful information in this group, but if you join, you should first take steps to protect any accounts you may have which are in need of help.

Favorites I don't use this feature because I do not like all the bean-counting that it enables. Having contacts and group memberships publicly visible is bad enough, but why would I want to display such a list of other people's content that I like?
