Welcome to The Gowanus Studio Space, Inc. Flickr Site!

The Gowanus Studio Space, Inc. is a nonprofit arts organization that provides equipment and support to a collaborative of emerging designers, artists and craftspeople.

The studio encourages production of thoughtful and inventive work that benefits the art community, local public, and environment, and merges the disciplines of art and design.

The studio is located in the historic factory district of Gowanus, Brooklyn. Gowanus is named after its canal, which was used in early New York as a transport for factory goods. Today Gowanus is surrounded by neighborhoods like Park Slope, Carrol Gardens and Redhook, and its art community is growing all the time.

Members of The Gowanus Studio have access to 5000 square feet of studio space divided into private studios, storage, communal work space, and a wood shop and printmaking shop. The communal work space is convertible to gallery space to exhibit members' work.

In addition to the great facilities, the studio encourages artists, designers and craftspeople to interact and collaborate.

The studio also accepts proposals for ambitious projects that brighten the community or help the environment.
