For scale

I am a documentary filmmaker & photographer, a location scout, and a film festival programmer. I photograph industry and abandonment in urban spaces, and publish two new photoessays a month at kensinger.blogspot.com/

My photography has been featured in the New York Times, New York Post, New York Magazine, New York Sun, and online at Gothamist, Curbed, Brownstoner and the Village Voice. My photographs have been exhibited at the Brooklyn Museum, the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts, the Brooklyn Library and at various galleries.

My documentaries include "Covered Tracks" - which was based on my photographs of The Freedom Tunnel in Manhattan, which once housed an underground homeless city. "Covered Tracks" screened at festivals around the world, incuding Slamdance, the San Francisco Independent Film Festival, Rooftop Films, the Boston Underground and the Black Maria Film Festival. More information on my films can be seen here.

To learn more about my work, read "Have Camera, Will Trespass, on Brooklyn's Waterfront" in the New York Times, "Nathan Kensinger, Photographer" at Gothamist, and "Urban Photographer Nathan Kensinger Knows NYC's Best Rooftops, Toxic Industrial Canals, and Dive-Bar Bathrooms" at the Village Voice.
