Hi, I'm Olaf, yes Yet Another Point-And-Shooter or simply YaYapas.



I'm living in Aachen (Aix-La-Chapelle, Aken), Germany, and I'm working there as a software developer in a firm of consultant engineers. Our bureau is mainly concerned with traffic planning and management.

At the moment I use the following equipment:

Nikon D80 (since July 2008), Nikkor 18-70mm 1:3.5-4.5f, Nikkor 50mm 1:1.8f, Nikkor 35mm 1:1.8f , Nikon 105mm 1:2.8f Macro, Tokina 11-16mm 1:2.8f, DÖRR Achromatic Macro Lens (+5), Fujifilm Finepix S5600 (still often used when weather or other conditions could be inconvenient) but now mainly replaced by a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 , SLIK Able 300 DX, Giotto MH-1002 (both from the legacy of my father), GorillaPod SLR-Zoom, BILORA Perfect Pro, Nikon MC-DC1, Crumpler The Daily 370.

Especially on longer trips I use the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 together with the GorillaPod without the baggage of the full DSLR equipment. Although I try to get the best out of the Panasonic bridge camera (I'm not so presumptuous to say that I always succeed), in some cases I have missed the Nikon D80 especially on the Portugal trip in 2010. But in general the Panasonic DMC-FZ28 does a good job within its limits.
