DJ Tendraw is the alter-ego of London based artist Michael Shaw.
Described as "the British pioneer of circuit bending" and a "Musical Anarchist" he has performed and exhibited nationally and internationally for over a decade.
Primarily an experimental turntablist, his work investigates the hidden potential of electronic circuits in children's musical toys and the repurposing of electronic hardware and data to create a palette of otherwise unheard sounds and musicality.
One half of the circuit bent free noise duo DJ Tendraw & The Gypsies Dog and founder of The Gluerooms (2003), a DIY live art and experimental music event in London UK, he has written and presented radio shows for Breaks FM and Resonance 104.4 FM, released music on Big Dada, 4th Harmonic and Stationary Records, composed music for contemporary dance, delivered lectures and workshops in experimental practice and is currently artist in residence at Thomas Tallis School, London and House of Doll, Trash City, Glastonbury, UK.
