I simply love the outdoors and all nature can bring. I consider myself first as a naturalist, then as a photographer. Being both drives me to photograph those plants and animals I find in nature, not only to help document but often as a learning tool. Using the computer to enlarge flowers, leaves, insects, etc. is such a great way to learn and SEE the details that you cannot see when your out exploring. I love natural areas, the wilder the better. I use a kayak to get to many remote areas that otherwise could not be explored. The wild areas of northern Wisconsin are tops on the list.

I do sell some of my photos, but generally not the same photos that appear on flickr. I am often asked if I would be willing to donate my photos to certain causes. I do not mind being asked, so long as you mind me saying no. Yes, I am aware that lots of good photographs can be taken with luck, but the vast majority of photographs taken by knowledgeable photographers are the result of years of learning and experience, not to mention the costs of acquiring that knowledge. It seems unreasonable to me that any organization dedicated to promoting or enhancing a better understanding of nature should be operating on a zero budget when it comes to photographs.
