If you have made it to this page, thanks so much for taking the time to visit. I appreciate it.

Art for me thrives in small dark overlooked corners where new discoveries seem fleeting and are hard won. Nothing is ever finished or cornered. Authentic journeys are necessary but not necessarily seen. Things out of reach always call and flicker (no pun I wrote this years ago) in a darkness one can never fully illuminate. If one could we would lay, rest and have lost all curiosity.

(All images are made in camera, single exp. no PS tricks, unless otherwise posted.)

Personal note:
Recently I have begun to believe one of the things that attracts me so strongly to making images (other than it has always had a strong pull on me) is the practice of such creates clear empty spaces between the mind's endless chatter. I remember as a child seeing a painting (depicting a simple dirt road going over a hill) at my grandmother's house. I would constantly mind dream about what could be on the other side of that hill, this is the journey of discovery that calls me forward.

My 3 outstanding Old Dominion photography professors:

David E. Johnson (Professor Emeritus, ODU)

the late Wally Dreyer (ODU)

Phillip Morrison (Christopher Newport University)
Mr. Morrison presently has no images on the internet.

Outside the University environment I studied fine printing and the Zone System through books written by Fred Picker and attended a 10 day workshop with him in 1980. Fred Picker wrote the ZoneVI workshop, the only strait forward easy to understand no BS book on the Zone System.
