Evidence to this, Shannon earned the prestigious ASC Heritage award from the American Society of Cinematographers in February 2010, which recognizes outstanding achievement in cinematography.

In April 2009 Shannon completed a 3,000 mile solo cross country bicycle tour which reinvigorated his adventurous spirit and reaffirmed a determination to display his unique eye for beauty. He has a knack for creating powerful yet naturalistic imagery and draws his inspiration from the aesthetic power of the world around him and his experiences within.
