I am a woman. I am happy and full of gratitude for the life I have had and the one I am living now. I am 68 and have been preparing all of my years for the chance to be the artist I have become. I know my limits and have learned them the hard way and the best way through experience. I have a treasure chest of ideas, drawings, paintings, and photographs of all my favorite images. I make new ones everyday.

I taught art for 33 years (half of it in the public school system) and was an artist myself showing my work about once a year at what ever gallery I was working out of. Usually I ran after school art classes.

I have been drawing ever since I can remember. My sister and I started drawing in church to pass the time. (She is an artist also) I had a retrospective show of my work in 1993 in Los Angles. I sold most of the show and made no profit. I think it was at that point I almost stopped painting and drawing for good. I was in L.A working on my Masters in Psychology at that time.

I retired from teaching in 1998 and moved from Michigan to Georgia where I had gone to college and always wanted to return and live in the south. I bought a house fell in love with the plumber who had come to help me with some problems. We have been married for 7 years and he is an old soul and we are soul mates!

My son has over the past years encouraged me to go back to art and I have resisted. After doing some traveling over the past couple of years I had a large collection of photos and in order to share them I put them on Flickr. Then I started looking around and the creative work out there opened my heart and I started to do art-play until now it is a passion and I can’t stop.

I use Corel photo paint pro x3 to make montages’ out of my photos and art work. I am using Corel photo paint pro x3 and Incendia fractal maker in combination to manipulate my images.

All my work is from my own images and textures.

I have a lot to learn and am just moving along a little each day with new ideas and techniques. I have ordered some prints made of some of my best work and will put together a portfolio and may have a show some time.

My subject matter is an expression of the things I believe in. Like simplicity, economy, peace, love, compassion, and beauty. I am a long time mediator so Buddhist principles are often expressed visually. I have always had a love of the egg shape and the circle so that is another theme that is just a part of the way I see the world. As an art teacher it has been my privilege to help others express their inner vision. I often fancied I would like to go into retreat and spend days in meditation. I went to a Vipassana Silent Meditation for 10 days the last two years. It was awesome! My life here now in rural Georgia is conducive to almost that degree of isolation. I can meditate on my art or on my breathing it doesn’t really matter for most of any given day if I choose.
