Dear Neighbors:

My name is Gail Eastman, and I am a candidate for election to the Anaheim City Council. I have been active in multiple volunteer positions in the community for many years. During the past seven years I have gained valuable experience as a member of the City’s Planning Commission, serving as the Chair for three years. Just this past month, I’m very proud to say that State Senator Lou Correa named me “Woman of the Year” for the 34th District for my community involvement, and shortly thereafter I received the “Annie Accolade Award” for community service from the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce. I believe my past experience will help me make an even greater difference in our community by winning a seat and serving on the Council.

I am committed to quality education and increased City partnering with our schools. In 2007, I wrote a children’s book on the history of Anaheim titled Anna’s Home by the River. I’ve arranged to have it given yearly as a gift to all 3rd graders in Anaheim’s City Elementary District for use in their school curriculum. This project gave me insight into the history that brought Anaheim to where it is today, which will help guide us in the direction we need to be headed for the future.

In addition to education, I believe continued strong support for our public safety departments is critical to keeping our community safe. To do that we must ensure the City maintains revenues at a high level so we will have the resources our police and firefighters need to be effective. That means strong support of Anaheim business and commerce.

Our City Council needs the kind of experienced and committed leadership I have to give. With your support, we will keep Anaheim strong economically and focused on improving the quality of life in our neighborhoods -- ensuring our city remains a great place to live, work or do business, and raise children.
