I'm a self-taught (or, more correctly, "self-teaching") photographer, using my picture-making as a way to help me remember where I've been, and to help me learn where I'm going. I can't recall my first camera, but my second or third was a Pentax Spotmatic; now, I'm thoroughly enjoying a Nikon D300, which has taken away any excuse I might have had to "blame it on the camera". The art of photography provides me with joy and challenges at each stage of the process, from getting out, to seeing, through the mechanics of getting an image into my camera, to the ultimate decisions about how to present the image in a way that makes it display what I saw when the image was first captured.

Recent achievements:
- tied for first in juried photography competition, British Columbia
- collaboration in presentation of paper in environmental issues, at conference in Cold Lake, Alberta
- two years of model shoots (fashion shows), British Columbia, including images of own clothing creation
- lead-in photograph for Canadian Cottage Magazine (May, British Columbia)
- free-lance work in a variety of settings
- environmental photograph of local wildlife in report of community development project
- main photograph in Spring 2009 "Commons Connection"
- Summer, 2009: feature photographer in "Coats Marsh Community Park" documentary film
- Short-listed for Vancouver guide (schmap), August, 2009
- Feature photo in Schmap Vancouver, Eighth Edition
- Featured in Tourism BC "Hello BC" website, in section on Gabriola Island
- Primary photo source for 2010 "GoGabriola" tourism brochure

Lately, my camera equipment has been enhanced with the addition of a Nikon D3S and two new lenses (24-70 and 70-200 zooms), and the SB600 flash has been replaced by an SB900.
