Yesterday I renewed my flickr membership for the 4th time. I did it without hesitation. My 3 years here has been sometimes sporadic, sometimes obsessive, sometimes frustrating, but in the end I am greatly indebted to flickr. It is here that I found, at most times a very safe space to explore (pun intended) and grow. I found the courage to call myself a photographer, and to believe in myself as an artist. I found my latent love of words and writing, and I have made some amazing acquaintances and true friends here. This spring I quit my day job to go full time with my art. This I doubt would be the case had I not been on flickr. I hear lots of gripes about flickrs changes, and policies, but that matters little to me. The people are what makes flickr so powerful for me. I thank all of my contacts and friends here from the bottom of my heart for believing in me. I am finally able to believe in myself!
While I appreciate all sincere comments I am not in love with awards and flashy invites. I may choose to delete these.
Details:
I am a 50 year old artist using a camera, some paint, and a computer to create digital images that tell the story of my experience and imagination. I work intuitively creating one of a kind images that stand alone, or within a series. The subject of my work varies, but there is a common thread of interest in life's cycles, and the beauty of impermanence. My images tend to be illustrative and or graphic in style, which is indicative of my background in graphic arts. I love what I do, and I believe that comes through in the work. I live in a happy house with my husband, 2 cats, and 2 parrots. We love our life.
