I am a homemaker, providence roller derby skater, freelance web architect, indie crafter, wife, writer, mother of two girls, and a bon vivant on a budget.
I’ve been creating websites since 2002. I’m well versed in the world of coding, and as such can work with any platform, from blogging to e-commerce and beyond. I design and maintain websites for clients such as funkEpunkEmonkE, BendArt, Moriarty’s Fence, Mommas Review, and Providence Pin Up. I’m the web developer for New Commons, under whom I’ve created the following sites: Creative Providence, 5 &10 (not in use), Providence & Beyond, Provincetown: Next Economy, Civic Tourism 2, City and Soul, My Soul at Work, and New Commons (Supersite). As part of the Left Brain team, I’ve worked on Steve Archambault for Attorney General, Rhode Island Mayoral Academies, and Citizen’s Campaign.
I delivered my first baby (pumpkin) in May of 2006. I took a break from freelancing to focus on my new child, but quickly grew bored when motherhood was easier than I expected (how lucky, my firstborn slept all the time).
Out of this boredom, I created a shopping site and named it Hydrogen2Foxygen. The goal was to sell high quality handmade products from local designers that fit within the late 1950’s stereotype. I opened an actual retail location in The Grant Building in Pawtucket, RI at the end of 2007.
Within 6 months, the store doubled in size and moved into a bigger space in the building. Customers quickly started asking for some better known brands, to which I complied, creating a combination of local and national brands which my customers absolutely adored, but left me feeling unfulfilled.
With the birth of my second daughter in August 2008 and starting roller derby in the winter, I scaled back again and closed the storefront as of April 2009. Goodbye H2F, hello funkEpunkEmonkE (the name I’ve designed under since 2002).
Spring of 2009 is here and I’m focused on my apron line titled “Suzzi Homewrecker” for the future. The premise is one size fits all aprons that look and feel like halter dresses in funky, fun fabrics. I’ve teamed up with Providence Pin Up for the photography and I plan to travel a lot to promote the line. The ultimate goal is selling my aprons in boutiques across the country.
I also write for Ebook Guru, Momma’s Review, and Providence Daily Dose in addition to my personal blog. This is my lifelong dream come to fruition.
