I was born in deep space, my mother a long range cargo ship captain. She used to keep my crib next to the navigation console and sometimes before I knew how to walk she'd turn down the artifical gravity to and let me float around the main cabin. I never knew my father. Much later in life I found out he was an asteroid miner fond of the juice and short on responsiblity.

Now I'm a cargo ship captain myself. I pass through the Sol system quite frequently. I'm rather fond of the third planet in the system, Earth. The dominate creatures there are mostly harmless except to themselves and there still are a few unspoiled places left.

They have created a global data network they call the internet. Several years ago Galatic Sub Space Data Services (GSSD) put a repeater near the planet which relays a connection to the larger universe. So far they are unaware that many websites they visit are actually hosted off world. Earth porn has become quite popular with many of the mining outposts and now is only second in network traffic to pictures of cats.
