I am a lawyer by trade and a photographer by the love of the art. For twenty years my life has dually been about defending my clients alongside the hobby of model photography. I have taken photography lessons and read many books; nevertheless, the most impacting lesson that I have received has been that of the careful analysis of good photographs (many of which I have accessed through the wonderful Flickr community) as well as practicing and emulating those results. Feel free to critique and to draw inspiration from my work.

* The purpose of this website is to showcase the results of my photography sessions. The photos that you see posted have been authorized by my photographic subjects.

* Regarding my style of photography, I prefer to work with natural light. It seems to me that in this way portrait photography acquires true dramatics and depth. This differs from artificial light photography (or that which uses flashes and fixed lights) in various ways. One could say that flash photography is more adequate for modeling, where—in general—more than the living and breathing subject, the goal is to highlight the clothes and accessories which the subject is wearing.
* It is my fundamental belief that the optimal source of photographic radiation is that of our sun. True, it is more difficult and perhaps less efficient to control natural light conditions, since the source of light itself is about impossible to alter in any way, but to me this added level of difficulty brings about a greater satisfaction and effectiveness.

* Some specifics regarding my style of photographic composition, I have an inclination towards close-up shots and mid shots. Other shots and framing I do a whole lot less of.

* The post-edition of a creative work is as important as the light capture itself: it is necessary to do this with skill and elegance; only in this way can a photographic artist heighten the beauty of the model and the ambiance.





* Soy abogado de profesión y fotógrafo por afición. Me gano la vida defendiendo a mis clientes, y disfruto con la fotografía como pasatiempo, desde hace veinte años. He tomado cursos y leído muchos libros; empero, lo más importante, he mirado buena fotografía (como en ciertos grupos de Flickr), y practicado bastante.

* El objeto de este sitio es mostrar el resultado de mis sesiones (se publican solo algunas fotos de las modelos, con su autorización).

* Respecto al estilo, prefiero trabajar con la luz natural, que es la forma en que -según mi parecer- la fotografía de retrato adquiere más dramatismo y profundidad. Esto se diferencia de la fotografía con luz artificial (flash y luces fijas), más propia del modelaje, donde -en general- más que al sujeto, se trata de resaltar la ropa y accesorios, con menos juego de luz y sombras, utilizando, además, mucho plano general. De hecho, compré paraguas, soft-box y luces fijas, y las deseché por una decisión estética. Es más difícil controlar la luz natural, siempre cambiante y no siempre iluminando desde el lugar deseado, pero es más reconfortante.
* Respecto de los planos utilizados, me inclino por los Primeros Planos (también llamados de retrato o close-ups) y Planos medios. En menor escala el resto.

* La posterior edición implica la realización de una labor creativa tan importante como las tomas mismas: hay que hacerlo con tino y elegancia, para realzar la belleza de la modelo y la atmósfera que se pretende.
