ABOUT BRETT

At the tender age of five, a plastic camera and darkroom kit started Brett's lifelong passion for photography.

After leaving school he got the break that put him on the path to a fulfilling career as a photographer when he was offered an apprenticeship at the Birmingham Post, England. He bought a used Leica M2 with his first month’s wages and pursued his vocation photographing the streets of his home town.

Brett went on to open his own portrait studio and was awarded Kodak Portrait Photographer of the Year at the age of 25. His love of art and architecture led him to further hone his craft in the field of commercial and industrial photography using large format cameras.

In the 90's Brett recognised the new genre of reportage wedding photography and was inspired to apply all his experience into documenting one day, bringing street photography to weddings.

His motivation to capture the everyday within the special day and the extra in the ordinary led him to tell the wedding story with his camera of choice, the Leica M.

Brett now consults for Leica Camera UK. He shoots photographic assignments and leads M workshops coaching enthusiasts and professionals at Leica Akademie, Mayfair, London.

Brett shoots Leica for Leica. His signature look is the synergy between street, documentary and lifestyle imagery.

As well as weddings and workshops Brett also works on bespoke commissions and personal projects as an independent photographer. He also shoots for fun and travels for pleasure and often both at the same time.
