Some time ago I started looking at my old slides and pictures and, to my horror, quickly realized that Time was winning the race: dust was setting, mold was growing and colours were fading. To limit the damage I bought a table scanner and started saving the best or most meaningful (to me anyway) images on digital supports.

While doing it, I noticed that rust is another agent to worry about: I could not remember where, when and how I shot a lot of the pictures :-( So I started a blog where to store all those fading memories, keeping in mind that recent digital shots will follow the same faith, one day.

Then I noticed you can georeferentiate the photos and put them on Panoramio, hence Google Earth.

Finally I discovered Flickr with its great way to create sets and collections and even georeferentiate the photos... not to mention the quality of a lot of the work you find in it.

In a few words: just a few years ago I said I would have never started a photoblog... now I have four of them!

P.S. we should start a movement to promote worldwide MONITOR CALIBRATION so we will all see (more or less) the same thing!
