The Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society Inc. is an all-volunteer, award-winning educational and historic non-profit formed in 1972 to preserve historic steam locomotive no. 765, eventually becoming one of the first corporations of its type in the world to restore and operate a steam locomotive for public exhibition.

Since 1979, the Fort Wayne Railroad has operated special passenger excursion trains through sixteen states hauling well over 100,000 passengers over 52,000 miles.
Mission:

Dedicated to the preservation of the significant era of steam railroading in the midwest, the Fort Wayne Railroad maintains a working railroad shop, historic collection of vintage railroad rolling stock and equpiment, and operates no. 765 throughout the country as an authentic time machine and versatile teaching tool in an effort to preserve and make railroad history.
