In 1985, Kameelah was born in East Palo Alto, CA and has lived in Cape Town, South Africa as an exchange student, Johannesburg, South Africa as an Amy Biehl U.S. Fulbright Scholar, SF Bay Area, Southern California, and Washington, D.C. She now lives in Brooklyn, NY.

A storyteller, this self-taught mixed media artist who works with film and digital photography, paper collage, and digital arts. Her documentary-based photography has been exhibited in Oakland and San Francisco, CA as well as Brooklyn, NY and Washington, D.C. Her photography has also been published in F-Stop Magazine and Make/Shift Magazine.

Kameelah is also a writer. Her writing has been published in The Nation (online), Pambazuka: Social Justice in Africa, WireTap Magazine, Illume Magazine, and Make/Shift: Feminisms in Motion. In addition to being an artist and writer, Kameelah is also a high school teacher specializing in world history and writing support for urban high school students.
