I'm an amateur photographer living in Sandbach, Cheshire in the UK. At the moment I run my own web design and programming business as well as helping to run the family ticket printing business. I'm working on making photography a larger part of how I make my living so I've set up John Arnold Photography where I hope to sell some prints as well as perhaps pick up some photography business.
My interest in photography is lifelong but I really only started spending much time on it in 2000 when I was made reduntant from my last job. I bought a Canon EOS 300 and fairly quickly from there I moved into digital photography. My interest is mostly in landscape and location photography and I'm a big fan of toned black and white images but I do produce both colour and duotone images.
As part of my interest in photography I joined in on the Tips From The Top Floor forum where I was asked how I'd produced one of my images. To explain the post processing steps I produced a video tutorial and out of that grew PhotoWalkthrough.com, which is now a fully fledged video podcast available through the website and the iTunes podcast directory. PhotoWalkthrough.com offers video tutorials using photoshop and related tools depicting the process I took to take an image from the RAW camera file all the way to an image ready for printing.

Terry Crowell says:
"I am sure that I speak for a lot of people when I say that John has played a major part in my growth in photography. He gives so much of himself to everyone that I am not sure words can do him justice.
Thanks John for everything."12th August, 2007

Matt Dafforne says:
"John was one of the first to leave a comment on my photostream well over a year ago, and I've studied his photos since. Its obvious from the comments he receives that he is well respected, and all for a good reaon; simply put, his photos are amazing."

Michelle Jones UK says:
"Floyduk is Amazing, his podcasts are top notch with helpful insights into the realm of Photoshop.
He dosen't talk down to his listeners and seems to respect that there are some who find Photoshop daunting and explains each tool quickly and conciously.
For us who know Photoshop, there is always something to learn and learn we do.
Thanks floyd :)"1st August, 2006

Morningstar Lee says:
"Amateur?? Amateur?? NO WAY. Floyduk is a wealth of knowledge, both about photography, and about post processing. His attention to detail is unsurpassed and I hope some day to be half the photographer he is. If you haven't yet, check out his podcast for a great education all around post processing."

Andross says:
"floyduk is anything but amateur in my book - he has a clear understanding of the dynamics of black and white, a master of it in digital photography. His colors are rich and his images are full of texture and drama. His captures have scope and depth and display the beauty of his surroundings. In addition to being a superb photographer, he is helpful to others with less experience, offering tutorials and critique. floyduk is a truly wonderful person as well as a great photographer."
