Nelson Ryland is a photographer based in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated from Rhode Island School of Design with a degree in photography and shortly there after, was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship in visual anthropology to Bulgaria. After an internship with Mary Ellen Mark, he worked at the Phillips Collection, The Bonnie Benrubi Gallery and the Maine Photographic Workshops. Since then, he has photographed for the World Bank, Amnesty International and the ILO. His work is regularly seen on Gothamist, Brownstoner, and NY Spaces Magazine. He was also photo editor of the ditmas park blog for 2 years before it was acquired by Patch.com. His photography is included in the PBS series "Art Through Time: A Global View" which is airing nationally this fall.
