WELCOME!!

First of all I'd like to say a huge "THANK YOU!!" to everyone who has responded to my photostream with enthusiasm, humour and warmth - you've made my flickr experience SO interesting, and, frankly, addictive! I look forward to many more hours of discussion and quips.

"Hello!" to new visitors, nice of you to drop by. Hope you are inspired by flickr contributors as much as I have been.

Here you'll see uploaded scans from my own private collection of vintage children’s books. I am delighted to show them for personal use, for the purposes of appreciation, inspiration and education. I don't make a living from, or sell, illustration, books or scans. However, having been subject to several dishonest operators repeatedly plundering my flickr account photostream for their own illegitimate financial gain, I need to address the pressing issue of IMAGE THEFT.

These images are NOT in the Public Domain, so I've used the “ALL RIGHTS RESERVED” option. This means they CANNOT be used for commercial use or reproduction. For the information of those who use stolen material to furnish "their" business, your fraudulent claim to ownership or copyright for material you filched in the first place is ILLEGAL. It's also sleazy behaviour, dishonest business practice, and an abuse of the flickr membership and site (details via the "Terms of Service" link at the bottom of each flickr page).

There are many bona fide businesses, offering products and services that are legitimate and above board. It costs them time, money, skill and hard work, and, I'm sure I am not alone in believing they deserve the chance to succeed in a market untainted by pilfered loot.

Some of you may like to know that it is as a result of the aforementioned ongoing theft that I reluctantly altered the download settings on my account to restrict access;- I found myself spending my own money, time and energy, working unpaid, to supply the aforementioned disreputable business operators, saving them the trouble of having to make any contribution whatsoever. I hope you understand.

My dear family and friends, bless them, keep their eyes open for books I'd like; every now and then I have to reorganise the space in my flat to accommodate new arrivals. The more, the merrier is alway my policy!

"Flamenconut is my absolute favorite kind of nut here on Flickr. She is so very generous to share with us the sweet & sublime images of her awesome collection of children's books. Added to the pot is her clever commentary, wry & witty & warm. I've never seen her dance, but I imagine she would shake the house down! Yay, Flamenconut!"

"flamenconut is one of the most delightful and talented nuts who ever stamped a fiery flamenco tattoo on resonant floorboards or carefully turned the pages of the world's most enchanting children's books. She is always kind, ever witty, and toujours game for every flickr adventure. *boots throws flowers, stands, claps & claps*"

"Flamenconut is such a treat! A generous heart, a passion for book art, and a wicked brilliant sense of humor :-) This fine lady will introduce you to so so many wonderful books and illustrators your head will spin! (But only in a good way :-) Plus she's a great dancer! What more could one want? I ask you ???

(I wish this lady lived in Baltimore so I could borrow her books Award - though of course, a vacation in England at which time I also met this fine lady wouldn't be a bad idea either :-)""
