Ferry Vermeer's photostream

Thanks for visiting my photostream! Many would describe my stream as 'travel photography' but I dislike that description actually. However I really understand that, I shall not echo it that way. It's my job to get under the skin of the place where I shoot and that's why I investigate the context and history of those places to a certain extent, depending on whether the subject belongs to my expertise or not. After all, photography is my means rather more than my aim. Photography helps me to remember what I saw, because a picture says more than one thousand words. Probably due to my background, I seem to have an eye for architecture and urbanism, besides an occasional landscape the main subjects of my stream. I have been taught to capture the subject with my eyes rather more than with my cheap point-and-shoot camera. Luckily, those methods might coincide. I upload the ones which might be interesting for laymen (and perhaps insiders). That said, I'm really convinced that I will upgrade to a better camera later. Feel free to recommend one or another.

I really like to comment and fave work of other photographers, even if they are committed to subjects I usually don't capture. It might take one or two days but I shall always try to reciprocate. But, please, don't add me if you're not really interested in my work. A long contact list is not value added, so I update it regularly. The word 'contact' is not only a noun yet also a verb. I prefer quality rather than quantity, so it makes me very happy to see the work of so many talented photographers.
