  "Lo stile fotografico di Federico Erra raccoglie nella sostanza un grumo profondo di inquietudine, un animo in costante ricerca di senso e continuamente segnato da una latente insofferenza: non per niente per lungo tempo si è presentato in questo sito con il nome d’arte di Saint-Just, omaggio al rivoluzionario francese dell’età del Terrore.
  È come se le sue immagini, che si avvicendano con ritmo compulsivo, fossero circolarmente rivolte verso le proprie ossessioni latenti, verso uno scandaglio auto-analitico che passa di frequente per il mezzo dell’autoritratto.
  Il gesto di rivolgere l’obiettivo verso di sé diventa un sismografo degli umori, del malessere e della quiete, di quello che visceralmente scuote il corpo e la coscienza. Su toni verdi, blu o grigio-azzurri, su una gamma cromatica che predilige le tinte acide e i colori freddi, e con luci che tagliano in modo tagliente le forme, si dispiega una umanità che pare terrorizzata dal solo fatto di esistere, inquieta e interrogativa. “Davanti all’obbiettivo fotografico” scriveva Roland Barthes, “io sono contemporaneamente: quello che io credo di essere, quello che vorrei si creda che io sia, quello che il fotografo crede che io sia, e quello di cui egli si serve per far mostra della sua arte” da cui si diventa “un soggetto che si sente di diventare oggetto”, e nel fare questo, se ne chiede con stupore il motivo."
